Good Morning Everyone!
A quick glance at this week's forecast tells me we're in for a preview of Fall, YAY!!! The slightest amount of crispness in the air makes me start pulling my sweaters out of hibernation. Of course I love nothing more than saying good-bye to the heat of summer and hello to my favorite season, Fall. I've already removed all evidence of summer in my shop, my cozy mohair sweaters have made their way onto the mannequins. There is so much new inventory, I have no idea how Carrie was able to work her magic, but she managed to find homes for two ginormous boxes of Julie Asselin's yarns and all 22 gorgeous colors of Madelinetosh, Tosh DK. I'll be posting a video of what we've been up to, it looks amazing! THANK-YOU CARRIE!!!!!
If you're wondering what I've got on my needles, it's once again, a juggling act. Front and center is my Autumn Alpine sweater, OMG is it gorgeous. I absolutely LOVE the Making Tracks Light by Junction Fiber Mill!! I finished the color work yesterday, I completely underestimated just how long it would take to do 40 rows of the chart. I also didn't realize how many stitches there are going around on it (we know me and math). Well, let's just say, by the time I did the last increase row, I was up to 416 stitches. I was curious to see how long it would take me to complete a row, I set a timer, what a nerd....25 minutes and 23 seconds. I also had some unexpected hurdles in the form of (3) Gin and Tonics, which set me back almost an entire evening on Friday night. We all know that 1 stitch can totally break you, and after carefully tinking back the same section 3 times, I decided to put the sweater down. I was relieved I hadn't made too much of a mess upon inspection the next day, phew...it's always good to know when to waive the white flag.
My Shifty 2.0 has been in time out for well over a month, I added Color "C" for some stupid reason (probably Gin related) and haven't had the inclination to tink back 6 rows. I decided I was in the proper frame of mind Friday night to take on this task, I am almost finished. I'd forgotten how much fun this sweater is to knit, even going backwards lol. The colors just scream Fall and it's going to be a nice addition to my growing arsenal of sweaters. Sitting on simmer is my Morning Rituals sweater, I've been knitting the pocket liners. I'll likely get it cast on and in the works before our official KAL start date of September 28th, just to make sure I know what's going on. It wasn't my idea to knit Morning Rituals, the credit goes to Carla. I am responsible for figuring out a nice yarn to use since I don't carry what was called for, no problem, I substitute ALL THE TIME!! So I'm reading the latest newsletter from Fiber Space and they're all excited about Julie Asselin's Boucle, well duh...guess what sweater they're suggesting??? MORNING RITUALS!!!! Copy Cats!!! I've been to Fiber Space, it's in Alexandria, VA and just a lovely shop, which is why I subscribed to their newsletter. I was speaking to Julie about the Boucle order, she's very impressed that I have 18 signed up to knit this sweater using her yarn. I will need to collect payment for your orders before she ships it, please stop by or give me a call.
If you haven't already done so, MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! Andra will be here on Wednesday, September 25th, 6-7:30ish, for a fantastic, inspirational, TRUNK SHOW!! She will have loads of garments for you to try on featuring several of the latest yarns from Berroco and Madelinetosh. The online auction has launched for the Broodhaha, it started yesterday, September 2nd. The chickens have all been dispersed to their downtown locations. I encourage you to take a walk around to see how adorable they are. I have a flyer at the shop and Arleigh will be dropping off maps with more information regarding the event. Once again, THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE WHO HELPED!! Speaking of chickens, 14th Star is hosting a paint and sip on Thursday, September 26th at 6:30. Guess what we'll be painting? A ROOSTER!! I'm no artist, but I simply couldn't resist signing up, the disclaimer says, "No artistic talent required" watch me push that envelope lol.
We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday, 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
