Good Morning Everyone!
Spring is certainly trying to shake off winter, I'm trying to be optimistic. I did rearrange my sweaters yesterday, I moved the really heavy ones to the tippy top shelf, rotating my Spring sweaters in to take their place. It will be at least another month before the Winter sweaters get transferred to the closet shelves. Then it will be time for the Summer sweaters to be reintroduced for the season, fingers crossed. I think I've already jinxed the arrival of summer, I finished my new summer sweater in March, oops. I am very excited to wear it which means it won't happen until July, I wouldn't be surprised if we were subjected to an Arctic blast. How's that for optimism? This is why I have so many sweaters, we may only have 4 seasons, but they sure don't seem to mind showing up when it's not their turn. Does it really need to snow in April? I think not, there's a reason why my winter boots stay by the front door year round, ya just never know...
Despite what's going on with the weather, it hasn't deterred me from moving ahead with getting new yarns and notions! I have received Berroco Remix Wool dk (don't let the wool fool you) and Juniper Moon Farm Cumulus, I will be getting in JMF Marilyn and Cumulus Matisse soon. I also received a fun order of Spring themed notions like point protectors, tape measures, stitch markers and progress keepers. I have new colors of Purl String cords in two diameters and a restock of logo pins. Have you heard? Local Yarn Store Day is Saturday, April 25th!!! I am getting the shop ready for my favorite day!!! I just cast on an adorable shop sample in celebration of LYS day, the Treasured Skein Scarfette. It is one of the FREE patterns that will be available on LYS day. I know how much you all love a FREE pattern, guess what? Berroco will be offering one FREE pattern of your choice from their entire library of patterns with yarn purchase. I've even heard rumor of a scavenger hunt, it's going to be fun as always!!!
The Hat of the Month Club continues to be popular, I love April's hat, it's an adorable cabled tam. I can't help but think what a great way this is to unintentionally start your holiday knitting. I also think it's an opportunity to work with colors you normally wouldn't, explore a different palette. Additionally, you may come across a new technique that is more manageable with a smaller project. It's not too late, you can join in the fun whenever you want, but don't wait until the last moment, you'll be sorry....
I have received the details for Addie's graduation weekend, there will be reminders, but the shop will be closed, Friday May 15th & Saturday May 16th. I can hardly believe it myself, she was 7 years old when I opened my shop, now she's getting ready to begin her journey. I'm so excited for her!! She's off to a great start, she's secured a summer job with Rebecca Balint's office and will begin studying for the LSAT and apply to Law School. The best part? SHE'S MOVING HOME FOR THE SUMMER!
With Local Yarn Store Day being April 25th (aka the 4th Saturday) KAL will take place on Saturday, April 18th, 9-11:00. If you have finished your vest, consider wearing it, or at least bring it. KA is Monday, April 13th from 4:00-??? bring something to share. We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
