A Little R&R...

Good Morning Everyone!

What can I say? Carrie was right!! She usually is, which is a lot more tolerable than my husband being right, lol...We do make a great team, no question, mostly because she understands me and accepts my limitations. Her gazillion ideas must be presented, at most, no more than three at a time or else panic mode sets in and I can only see her lips moving and nothing registers. Thanks to her gentle consideration of my temperament, this year's Local Yarn Store Day was a HUGE SUCCESS!!! The thought of posting something every single stupid day on my Socials was a bit overwhelming, I didn't want to do it. Seriously, Carrie? Every day starting April 1st, UGH...She had it all mapped out, there was a suggested list of ideas the TNNA outlined, and she followed it to a "T". The entire time, all I could think was,"They have got to be so sick of seeing me every single day." Once again, I was wrong, I had incredible, POSITIVE feedback, the countdown was fun and generated excitement. I am still amazed by how many of you stopped by to show your support of my business, THANK-YOU!!! My heart is still so full of joy and gratitude, I consider myself lucky to be part of such a wonderful community of friends.

My latest sweater is Caitlin Hunter's Misurina, it is turning out to be quite lovely. It definitely takes a village, I was having trouble selecting the contrast color. I sent pictures to Kathleen and Carrie, the struggle was real, I really wanted the green to work. They both thought the Robin's Egg blue was the better choice, I was leaning a little that way, but you know how much I love green. I knit the first row of color work and stopped until I could get some feedback at Stitch and Bitch. I mentioned I didn't like it, I wasn't sure. Carrie said I needed to keep going (a tad bit bossy). Walter suggested I do the Black and White photo trick (it worked). There was strong support for Carrie's recommendation amongst the group, there was lackluster support for my green. It was then suggested I put in a lifeline just in case I don't like the Robin's Egg blue. Who are these people? Lifeline? Me? I went out on that limb, the colorwork is almost complete, WOW!! This sweater is going to be so pretty!! The main color reminds me of Confetti Cake, it's not anything I usually gravitate towards. I've been enjoying how speckled yarns knit up, those little pops of random color adds so much interest without detracting from the colorwork. I can't wait for you to see it!

Many of you have been asking about the Spring Retreat, with good reason, it is less than a month away, OMG!! Susan, Carrie and I have gone over the details for the catering and the general gist of what's happening. I'm almost ready to let you know the nitty gritty, but to hold you over until everything is ironed out, here's what I can tell you. The cost will be about the same per day, you will need to bring drinks, there is limited overnight accommodations available $100/night, the project will be Fission Knitting, there will be a crochet project offered, and I'm currently taking names. Last year I did a blocking demonstration, Carrie did a Ravelry presentation, please let me know if you have suggestions for a workshop/seminar/class.

We were so incredibly busy the minute the shop opened on Saturday, Carrie didn't get a chance to display Rob's latest Project and Notion bags. THEY ARE CUTE!! We will be doing a video this week to advertise them. I will be placing a Thread and Maple order this week, I am taking orders if you want to be included. I finally decided I needed to stock Doodle Decks, have you seen them? Lauren introduced me to them about a year ago, they are super cute, but you know that I always arrive late to the party lol...Needless to say, they are very popular, all the cool shops are stocking them, and although I don't consider myself to be cool, I think my shop is...The clincher for me was the Edinburgh collection, it has Highland Cows (Emilia I was thinking about you). I have (5) designs that I think you will enjoy. If you are looking for some fun colorwork, these are perfect! It's also a great opportunity to help you bust you stash and use up small amounts of yarn that are just taking up space in your cupboard. And let's face it, the reward for using stash is....MORE NEW YARN!!!

I am looking forward to sitting on my porch again to knit and relax today. If the forecast is correct, I have all day to enjoy it before we get some rain. I actually have tan lines from yesterday, YAY!! We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun (maybe we'll be outside). Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!

Katy
