Are You Almost Ready???

Good Morning Everyone!!

We are just cruising through the month, time stands still for no one. Thanksgiving is just over a week out and then BAM, it will be Christmas. Not that there's a need to panic, yet, but if you are looking for some great gift ideas, I CAN HELP!! Carrie has been very busy cracking the whip we've put together some fantastic kits to help make your holiday season special. I have almost sold out of the Traveler Cowl kits https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-traveler-cowl but if I do, of course there are other options available. The latest kit is called Honey Pie https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/honey-pie-4 which is an adorable, easy, cabled cowl knit up at a bulky gauge which translates into a quick knit. I also have Carpenter Hat kits, Thrummed Mittens, Flax Sweater kits, these would all make perfect gifts. Of course if all else fails, GIFT CERTIFICATES never disappoint. It's worth mentioning, I do have a few Advent Calendars available for sale, I managed to make a couple extra, just in case....

I am trying my best to get the Morning Rituals sweater OFF MY NEEDLES!!! I am working on the first sleeve, I'm halfway down, phew....I could have had this sweater knit, blocked and worn by now but my pace was slowed down due to alternating my skeins (aka helical knitting). With anything handmade, there are varying degrees of imperfection. I probably took it a bit too far when I decided that alternating every other stitch would be the best way to blend the two different dye lots. I was right, but the nature of hand dyes is very different than commercially dyed yarns. What I have learned from this KAL is to appreciate a challenge. Let's face it, the pattern was not difficult at all, it was extremely well written, like all of her patterns. The challenge was working with the yarn and embracing the unique attributes of hand dyed yarn. I know that a few of you struggled with the tonal aspect of the yarn once it was knit, but I believe that the nature of the curls and how it takes the dye yields a gorgeous fabric. It's going to naturally shade due to the characteristics of the yarn, it creates a ombre which compliments the texture of the yarn. We will be meeting for KAL, this Saturday, November 23rd 9-11:00. I can't wait to see everyone's progress!!! I am hoping to wear mine....

Planning ahead, Small Business Saturday is November 30th, I hope you will stop by, I'm sure Carrie has something fantastic planned (no pressure, Carrie lol)...The Downtown Holiday Raffle will be starting that weekend as well, I would love to be the first to STAMP your punch card. I will be closed on Thursday, November 28th for Thanksgiving, but ready to roll on Friday. We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!!
