Good Morning Everyone!
Well, it's official, the storm windows are off! The invitation for summer to start heading our way has been extended. I did make the most of the chilly, soggy weekend, I blocked my Forest Light sweater and was able to actually wear it on Sunday because it was stupidly cold and rainy. Nothing like a bright orange sweater to bring a pop of color and joy to a gloomy, gray day. IT'S SO PRETTY!! My plans to work outside were shoved to the back burner, so I did the next thing possible, CAST ON A NEW SWEATER!! I've been dying to knit with Cumulus by Juniper Moon Farm but was struggling to decide on which pattern (so many options). Instead of completely overwhelming myself with my Ravelry Library and "Saved To Favorites" options, I consulted my Cocoknits Project Portfolio where I have conveniently stored several patterns already printed up and in queue. VIOLA there it is, Elizabeth Smith's Audrey Pullover, PERFECT!! I absolutely love her patterns, they are very well written and perfect for those just starting to knit sweaters. She offers lots of support and videos taking you step by step through sections that may need further explanation for those that are new to the game. Here's the link https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/audreys-pullover My goal is to have it finished before starting the MKAL on June 3rd, stay tuned....
I'm very excited for the next KAL to start, I've never done a Mystery KAL before and this one encompasses my absolute love of quilts and knitting. I'll admit, I am no quilter, I have absolutely no desire to cut fabric into little pieces, pin them together and sew them into beautiful patterns and designs. I do, however, appreciate the amount of work and talent it requires to create these works of art. My cousin Amy makes the most incredible quilts I've ever seen in my life!! I was lucky enough to inherit the one she made for our Mimi, I look at it everyday with admiration. The Quiltstar Shawl by Gabrielle Vezina is beautiful and is my solution to making a quilt. This MKAL is a 6-week mystery knitting journey where each clue reveals a new piece of the geometric and colorful puzzle. It's a triangular shawl that is built from modular sections that come together in a surprising way. HOW FUN IS THAT?? There is lots of support and it definitely builds community, there is a Ravelry Group to join, you can post your progress and see everyone's projects! Check out the link for more information, I have put together lots of combinations or you can choose your own, there are so many options!! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/quiltstar-shawl-mkal
Stop by and pick out your colors, this is going to be a lot of fun!
Now that the long, holiday weekend is over (I love how the sun finally came out at 5:00 yesterday, yielding 2 hours of porch knitting) it looks like we will be able to meet tomorrow evening, Wednesday, 6-7:30, OUTSIDE for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
P.S. WISHING ADDIE A VERY HAPPY 22ND BIRTHDAY!!!
