Good Morning Everyone!!
Is anyone else melting, or is it just me? Does it really need to be over 70 degrees at 5:30 a.m? The only good thing about it being the end of July, it's that much closer to Fall, my favorite. With Fall comes sweater weather, cooler days, no more mosquitoes, need I go on? Actually, the mosquitoes seems rather tame in comparison to the Jurassic deer flies that are currently inhabiting our surrounding woods. They attack in tandem, Bernie's nose seems to be a good target, poor buddy has some big ole bumps. Despite my efforts to spray coat ourselves with repellant, they still find a way to invade our morning hikes. I will say it does help to keep the pace brisk and the heart rate up, always a silver lining...
We had a nice group go Yarn Hauling last week, what an awesome day! We covered over 400 miles, 5 yarn shops and made it back for Stitch and Bitch. I came back with a few souvenirs, but no yarn. Our first stop was all the way down in Chester, Six Loose Ladies, I love this shop. There's nothing better than walking into a shop that has a lively group sitting around knitting and crocheting. Our next stop was in Quechee, Living The Dream Alpaca Farm, in my opinion, a tourist trap. For starters, it isn't a farm, and the yarn isn't local, it was from The Alpaca Company which is based in Pennsylvania. So a bit disappointing, but certainly not the end of the world. We cruised up to St. Johnsbury to visit the Yarn Bank, I hadn't been to the new location or meet the new owner, mission accomplished! From there it was a little jaunt over to Montpelier to visit Notions, just adorable, finishing up the day seeing Jen at Yarn in Waterbury, she was waiting for us. Next year, we're considering renting a big limo so we can all relax and knit while someone other than Carrie and Carla drive us around. Can you imagine just how entertaining it would be to pull up in front of a yarn shop in a limo??
We have officially started our next KAL, the Florence. For those of you still waiting for Making Tracks Lite, I did hear from Junction Fiber Mill over the weekend. There were several elves working extra hard to make sure they could fill the rest of our order, THANK-YOU!!! It has shipped and should be here likely tomorrow, Wednesday, I will let you know as soon as it gets here. There is still time to join in the KAL, I did order extra colorways of Making Tracks Lite, and there's plenty of Lanas Light to choose from. I plan to cast mine on this week, I'll need another project to work on while I finish the endless rows of the body on my Flower Child Tee. If you're not in the habit of using a progress keeper, I've discovered just how incredibly gratifying it is to see how many inches you've knit in a day. What else is there to do on a ridiculously hot, humid day? Now you know, it's not clean the bathroom...
The final day of the Great Northern Yarn Haul is Thursday, July 31st, I will be offering 20% off Summer yarns, kits and the carry alongs (mohair, paillettes, make it tweed) IN STOCK only. So if you're looking for a great deal, stop in and see what you can find. I'll be posting the video on Wednesday, but you get to hear it here first!! It's also worth mentioning, on August 1st, I will be celebrating 14 years in business!! I can't believe it's been that long, just WOW!!
We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
