Fall Fun For You!!

Good Morning Everyone!

You all know how excited I get when Fall arrives and the temperatures begin to drop. Admittedly, I've been pushing the envelope a tad, anxious to wear my sweaters, not taking into consideration how warm the afternoons have been. My defense, wool offers insulation and breathability properties, it's like wearing built-in climate control. In cold weather the fibers help trap warm air to insulate you; in hot weather, they allow fresh air to pass through. These properties do not hold true in the regulation of hot flashes, but for the most part, a wool sweater can get you through the 25+ degree temperature swings we experience this time of the year. Needless to say, I've been excited to pull out my lovely arsenal of handknits that have been patiently waiting for Fall to arrive.

Just in time for Fall, I have new yarns for the season from Lang, they are beautiful! Twister is a 100% wool yarn with color gradients in a two-strand "twist" which creates a vibrant color effect. It is a yarn geared toward uncomplicated knitting projects (those last minute Christmas gifts) simply because the yarn does all the work. It is a super bulky, an excellent choice for creating a vividly colorful accessory or garment.

Infinity is a single ply extra fine merino worsted weight with a unique color design. Each ball is made in such a way that there is no color repeat, essentially the same colors appear again and again, but in different intervals and sequences. Infinity shows its full potential in larger projects allowing the colorfulness to create a stunning fabric. It reminds me of Frida, which I carried a couple of years ago, except I think this is even prettier. The pattern booklets are on the way, but we can always take a look at Ravelry for inspiration.

I have received a restock of Cloud, the new colors are beautiful and create such lovely sweaters and accessories. My friend Teela picked up a few skeins to knit the Rutabaga Vest by Berroco (I have a shop sample) https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rutabaga-2 It is a quick knit and the textured stitch looks gorgeous in this yarn. There is also the Poppy hat that would make a fantastic gift (and the pattern is FREE) https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/poppy-82 We are less than (3) months away from Christmas, so stop by check out all of the new inventory.

Vermont Sheep and Wool is this weekend in Tunbridge, the SHOP WILL BE CLOSED, SATURDAY, OCTOBER 3RD. We will be meeting at the shop at 8:30 to caravan down to the festival. We will also be stopping at the Williston Park & Ride to pick up Emma and Kristen. If you would like to join in the fun, please let me know. This year, we will be heading over to Worthy Burger for an early dinner, all of that shopping works up an appetite. Checkout their website, the food is amazing, I look forward to eating there just as much as going to the festival https://www.worthyvermont.com/worthy-burger Don't forget to get your ticket, it's $10 in advance, but of course, available at the gate https://vtsheepandwoolfest.com/

I've been dividing my knitting time between (2) sweaters, one for me (no shock there) and the other one for Addie. Addie's is the Wizard Sweater, I'm using Coast in Navy Blue, it is a classic raglan and is turning out perfectly. It is rather mindless, so I felt the need to break up the monotony and finally cast on my Thistlewood. I have mastered a new technique, one that confused me before, but I gave it another try, Ladder Back Jacquard. OMG what a game changer! Due to my Main Color being a lemony-cream and my contrast colors being green and red, I was concerned about my floats showing through. I ran into a similar situation when I knit the Harvest Flower sweater. I gave up last time, this time I was determined. It looks amazing and creates a gorgeous stranded color work yoke. The tension appears to be perfect and it is ever so tidy on the wrong side, I am quite impressed with myself. I'll post pictures so you can see, I'll have it tomorrow evening at Stitch and Bitch and am happy to show you how to do it. I may have just found my confidence to pick up my Foxthoughts sweater....

Due to the darkness arriving earlier and earlier, Stitch and Bitch will be inside until the Spring. We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I hope to see you soon!

Katy
