GLIDER TIME!!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

Yesterday turned out to be simply glorious! My morning hike with Bernie was misty and gray, it didn't appear that my weather app could be telling the truth, it indicated yellow suns for the entire afternoon, hmmm, we'll see. As a precaution, I completed some much dreaded housework with the hopes that my efforts would be rewarded, VIOLA!!! I spent my first afternoon, in shorts and a tank top, knitting on my glider, HEAVEN!!! I cannot wait to show you the progress I'm making on my Mabel cardigan https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mabel-22 I LOVE ISABELL KRAEMER!!! Her designs are so interesting and this one does not disappoint in sooooo many ways. The effort she goes to so there are no seams to contend with is PURE GENIUS.

I've learned a couple new techniques which is always a joy, up that skill set a bit. I implemented a technique Carrie found, a provisional cast on using Purl Strings, OMG, game changer. I also learned a cute little stitch called the Daisy Stitch, similar to a Mock Cable, the result is kind of the same. Initially I thought the sweater was embellished with a lovely double cable, it's not!! What a relief, the Daisy stitch is quicker to do, no cable needle involved. I'm currently building out the raglan increase and the most beautiful shoulder shaping detail I've ever seen on a garment. It doesn't hurt that I'm knitting with Julie Asselin's Fino (Cashmere, Merino and Silk) there are no words...It is a soft rose petal pink, not in my usual color wheel house, but simply irresistible. I am planning a Trunk Show with Julie so stay tuned....

As Lucinda says, "Sparkle is the new neutral" and she would certainly know! My efforts to keep you all up to speed in the world of fashionable knitting is a challenge I accept graciously. I now have lots of sparkly Paillettes from Lang Yarns, the possibilities are endless. I added some along the edge of a my LYS Shawl with Artyarns Merino Cloud, such a pretty little bling bling to an already beautiful shawl. I'll be posting my next project idea on Social, but I'll give you the inside track, you heard it here first lol...I'm going to knit another Love Note by Tin Can Knits https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/love-note this time using the (4) skeins of navy blue Mantra that have been sitting in my Sale trunk for YEARS held with navy blue Paillettes, this is going to be stunning! Mantra is discontinued, probably really stupid of me to knit with it, but I WANT IT and no one else seemed to so it's mine. Andra has assured me that we can find a suitable substitute for this lovely 100% silk, she has just picked up the Madeline Tosh line of yarns. THIS IS EXTREMELY EXCITING NEWS!!! I'm waiting to hear back when our meeting will take place.

There are still a few spaces available for the Knitting/Crochet retreat at Susan's Bed and Breakfast May 18th & 19th. It is a weekend of fun for sure, you may attend either or both days. The cost is $100 for one day and $140 for both. The meals are catered by VT Bakery, Carrie & I are putting together amazing project bags with the project we will be working on (bring your needles/hooks). There will be a prize each day and did I mention, IT WILL BE FUN!!!! You have until May 15th to sign up, let me know if you'd like to attend. Since I have your attention, mark your calendar for Saturday, June 8th, it's World Wide Knit In Public Day. Historically we've met down in Taylor Park by the fountain, I see no reason to change this. Let's plan on meeting at 9:00 a.m. hopefully the weather will cooperate.

We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!

Katy
