Good Morning Everyone!!
If you've never seen the movie Groundhog Day, in a nutshell it's about an egotistical weather man who gets stuck in a time warp, repeating the same day over and over again and it won't stop until he learns how to change his ways. Enter Row 24 of my Birkin sweater, OMG, seriously how many times can I knit that stupid row, wrong? Everytime I thought I'd found and fixed the mistake I'd get halfway around the next row only to discover there was something wrong. No idea how the end of the previous row seemed to turn out correctly, aside from a touch of denial. I swear, each time I tinked back, the mistake was closer to the beginning of the round, UGH!!!! So much for being on a roll and finding my groove, freaking trainwreck. Perhaps it was the excitement of finishing up the navy blue flowers and seeing the light at the end of this three color tunnel. After much frustration, an exercise in patience, and a lot of deeper breathing, progress was made, unfortunately it was short lived lol...meet row 29 and stay tuned.
Fortunately for me, I was able to find confidence and restore my faith in my knitting skills by picking up my Il Grande Favorito. I can't get into too much trouble on 10.5's knitting in the round, right??? Aside from missing the occassion strand of mohair in a stitch it's been extremely smooth sailing, right down to picking up the stitches around the neckline, it's perfect! I'll have the sweater finished today and will do it the honors of blocking it, AND FINALLY WEARING IT!! Peggy came in on Saturday wearing hers, it was so gorgeous!! I was really excited to hear that she loved knitting with the Artesia so much that she was now going to knit the Bixby cardigan, go, Peggy, go!! I have this new found love of mohair thanks to my dear friend Andra, I've never been so excited to be wrong about a fiber in my life. I'm so thankful that I gave mohair a second chance, it has certainly been a sheer joy to work with, and it's sooooo soft and cozy. What's not to love? I'll more than likely be wearing my Favorito every single day this week, stop by!
Many of you have hopped right on board with me and the latest sock knitting excitement that Happily Knitting Socks has created, including the authors!!! I posted the video on Instagram and DenDennis saw it and started following me. It didn't stop there, he shared my video on his story which has 23,000 followers, holy shit!!! I wrote him a message telling him how much I loved the book and congratulated them on their success. He wrote back thanking me for my support, complete with an emoji face with hearts for eyes, YAY!!! Andra has graciously figured out 8 more colors of Lang Jawoll sock yarn to add to the 6 she already picked out last week. The books will be shipped just as soon as they are back in stock. I have a list going for those that would like one, let me know if you would like to be added.
Zooming has been so much fun!! No one is more surprised than me to discover that this is a great way to get together and visit. So far I've been able to include friends from California, Maryland, and New Hampshire. If you would like me to send you the link, let me know, you can join when it's convenient, no pressure. So hear's your reminder that we will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30, I'll email the link tomorrow.
