Good Morning Everyone!
I don't know about you, but I am absolutely loving this little shift in the weather. I'll take the rain and cooler temperatures any day. I am so excited that Fall is here, I'm way ahead of myself, I BOUGHT MUMS, ALREADY!! My brain has been triggered, my most favorite time of the year is approaching. It may technically be summer, but it sure feels like Fall is taking center stage, it was a refreshing 49 degrees when Bernie and I left for hike. Oh yeah, AND DARK!! The hours of daylight are rapidly decreasing. But as my friend Cindy pointed out, if it's dark early, she can go inside, guilt free, and knit since it's too dark to do yard work. There's the silver lining...
As you all know, I finished my Florence Sweater!! That means we are looking for our next KAL, the struggle is real. I do understand that starting a new KAL this time of the year can be tricky. Especially when I keep reminding you to start your holiday projects, there are only so many hours in the day, right? Carrie came up with a fantastic idea, she's so helpful!! So here we go, in an effort to help you out, we've decided to do (3) quick Christmas Workshop KALs. The first one is scheduled for Wednesday, October 8th during Stitch and Bitch. Carrie found the most adorable bag by Laura Nelkin https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/novus-knit-pouch The construction is super cool, there is a great technique using Purl Strings. I will be casting mine on today so I can show you tomorrow night what it will look like. Carla suggested scheduling it during S&B, you can still come and not participate in the KAL. This seemed like a logical time since I am no longer able to offer classes. Additionally, if this time doesn't work for you and you'd like to participate, you can certainly pick up a kit. The cost is $35 and will include the yarn, pattern, purl strings, and super cool leather button. We're also offering a Christmas ornament workshop November 5th and the last one will be I think a hat (I can't remember what Carrie said) December 3rd. No surprise I'm still working out the details, but I wanted to see what you thought....
Speaking about working out the details, let's talk about Advent Calendars. I always get so excited to start working on these, I get smarter each year!! The items are already starting to arrive, I don't have everything picked out yet, so I'm not sure about the pricing. Let me know if you want to be on the list, they are going to be AWESOME!! Carrie found the best project and I'm having a blast ordering all of the gadgets and pretty things. I worked really hard on Saturday scrolling through and finding all the things that will make you happy. I will let you know the price ASAP, quantities are limited, first come, first served....
Coming straight down the pike at us, ANDRA'S ANNUAL TRUNK SHOW!!! I am very excited to see Andra and all of the beautiful new yarns, patterns and garments for the upcoming season. There's already talk of a new design by Elizabeth Smith featuring Aerial Degrade, I've signed up for the Test Knit. If you haven't already marked your calendars, it's scheduled for Wednesday, September 24th, 2 WEEKS AWAY!! This is always so much fun, you can try on sweaters, touch the new yarns, see the patterns and or course, ORDER!!! Hopefully the weather will cooperate, last year we had to pivot and wound up in my parlor. Oh well, I fly best when it's the seat of my pants.
I have been working away on my Rib Lace Raglan, it is so pretty! I stupidly brought it to KA last night, believing it was mindless enough to work on. OMG, I pulled everything out when I got home, what a fiasco. It certainly is mindless, I would have been fine had I done the lace work in the right place. It was correct, but I somehow got off on the wrong stitch, UGH!! I promised Carla I would have a "true" mindless project for Wednesday night. We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch (yes it's getting a tad dark) I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
P.S. Don't forget to park facing downhill on the north side of the street to avoid getting a ticket.
