Last Call To Haul!!!

Can you believe it's the last week of July?!?!?! I know that I can't. This means it's the final week of the Great Northern Yarn Haul, another successful year. It was wonderful seeing so many of my loyal haulers come for a visit, along with a fresh batch of newcomers. This has been so much fun to participate in, I love meeting new people and hearing about their fiber adventures. I am excited to head out tomorrow with my friends to visit some of our favorite shops and add to my stash! If you want to join in the fun, we will be departing from the shop at 9:00 a.m. THE MORE THE MERRIER! We will be back in time for Stitch and Bitch, don't worry.

The KAL Gals met up on Saturday morning, OMG what a gorgeous day it was! A lovely breeze, no mosquitoes and the squirrels took a break from dropping chewed up butternuts on us, BONUS! I had a basket full of Schoppel Wolle, Edition 3 on display, just in case anyone wanted to see how lovely it is. Guess what? We made the executive decision that the next KAL would be Andrea Mowry's Rhinebeck Sweater, Antipodes! And why shouldn't it be? It offers the perfect criteria for a KAL, most important, it's beautiful, followed by an interesting construction and fun techniques. This sweater checks all the boxes, the most challenging part is deciding on which color combination to use. I have changed my mind again, no surprise, I was so close to using the exact same colors as Sandy, instead, I'm using yarn I bought from myself (lol, I do pay for it) Julie Asselin's Fino paired with Spincycle that was a gift from Sue. The timing is perfect, I am almost finished with Amy Christoffers' Felix Cardigan!! I started the ribbing this morning after Bernie took me for my walk. As you know, I'm kind of playing yarn chicken, I decided to knit the entire body of the sweater to see how much green I had left for the ribbing. My initial plan was to use Croft Tweed for the ribbing, but I think I have enough green to incorporate both. I'm going to use the MC for the knit stitches and the CC for the purl stitches. I've done this before, it creates a beautiful ribbing, I think it's going to look amazing! If I hate it, Panchita has offered part of one of her skeins to finish up. Nothing like having a backup plan, this is something new for me. If you're looking for a quick knit, I highly recommend this design, and guess what? I have the perfect yarn, Baa Ram Ewe Coast! I have an order coming in Thursday from Fairmount Fibers, a huge box full of the Woodnote DK along with a restock of Coast. I also received the first of box of Cloud by Lang! I have received so many compliments on my version of Isabell Kraemer's Il Favorito Grande, I decided to bring it back to the shop. Cloud is a "bulky" that knits up like a cloud, hence the name. It has long color repeats which produces colorful stripes. I absolutely love this sweater more than I ever expected to. It's interesting that I even ended up knitting it considering I discovered the yarn underneath Addie's bed (don't ask).
