Lurking In The Shadows...

Good Morning Everyone!

Just when we thought Summer was finally getting settled into it's routine, don't let these gorgeous days fool you, Fall is lurking in the shadows. Don't hate me, I noticed something rather disturbing over a week ago, you're not going to like it. It's no longer light out at 5:00 a.m. Summer is starting to fade away. I'm hardly depressed, it's my least favorite season, except for the strawberries and blueberries and maybe porch time. Not that I'm counting, but the first day of Fall is in 2 months, 2 months! Let's just completely rip the band-aid off, Christmas is 25 Fridays away. Who's ready for more coffee? Something stronger? Never fear, if you believe in me the way I believe in you, WE GOT THIS!! How, you say? NEW YARN!!

I have been poking around looking at so many gorgeous new designs for the season, trying to figure out what I need to bring in so we can all be fashion forward. Andrea Mowry's Rhinebeck Sweater, Antipodes, is beautiful. Here's the link https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/antipodes-3 I think it looks like a lot of fun to knit, the construction and design are very interesting. Finally a break from top-down raglan construction (which I do LOVE, but...) this design has a very interesting saddle shoulder construction, stripes, stranded colorwork, and faux seams a la The Weekender!

It is worked from the top down, seamlessly, YAY! Beginning with the saddle shoulder, then you pick up stitches for the back and fronts separately. Once the yoke is completed, you will join to work the body in the round. Easy Peasy! It just so happens that one of the yarn substitutions she mentions is arriving in the shop TODAY, Schoppel Wolle Edition 3! I carried this yarn over 10 years ago, it is a beautiful Sport weight extra fine merino that features a slow, gradual color change in each ball. Wait until you see all of the colors I have selected, they just so happen to coordinate with Moonshine Fine and Lanas Light, endless possibilities!!

If that isn't enough, I also have a gorgeous restock of Malabrigo Rios scheduled for delivery today. I haven't ordered from them in awhile, but I noticed they had a bunch of new colors, and figured they needed to come to the shop, they just don't disappoint. Berroco has finally decided to start shipping my Vintage order from way back in April, it may be one bag at a time, but hey, it's progress. Don't cringe Andra, we know this isn't on you, you are way too efficient. Maybe you should be in charge, just a thought, it would make my life easier.

Speaking of making my life easier, nothing like casting on with Aran weight and #10 needles!! Amy Christoffer's Felix Cardigan has been on my radar for years, it will be done in no time at all. I am using quite the combination of yarns for mine, it is going to be gorgeous! The main color is Baa Ram Ewe Coast in Algae paired with Berroco's Aerial in Navy (the mohair was necessary to help me get gauge) and West Yorkshire Spinner's Croft Tweed in Mossbank for the ribbing. The navy blue mohair is quite understated until you bring it out into the sunshine, it just explodes! It has created a lovely marled fabric, it is going to pair even better with the Croft Tweed. I cannot wait for you to see how it has worked up. Now for some sad news...the yarn I used for my Quiltstar Shawl MKAL BLED!!! Not the Moonshine Fine, but the Expression Fiber Arts (not sure which one, it was a gift without labels). It is still completely wearable and hardly ruined, but I was so disappointed when I removed it from it's coldwater bath and placed it on the towel. I did treat it with a paste of baking soda, vinegar and detergent, but it's still noticeable when I point it out and stare at it. I'm definitely putting the tassels on it to cause a distraction, lol. Nonetheless, it is a lovely shawl, I enjoyed knitting it immensely, such a skill set builder. You can never be good enough at anything, practice always makes it either better or at least easier to do. How is everyone else coming along with there's? I know Sandy is finished, anyone else? The Great Northern Yarn Haul is in FULL SWING! I've had so many haulers come visit the shop, it's so fun to see everyone. I have scheduled Wednesday, July 29th to take a tour and go explore some of the wonderful shops in Vermont. If you would like to join in the fun, we will be departing from the shop at 9:00. We will be carpooling, let me know if you are willing to drive. We will be back in time for Stitch and Bitch, promise!
