Good Morning Everyone!
If you haven't heard, Local Yarn Store Day is right around the corner, 11 days to be exact! I have been busy getting in fun new notions and gadgets, putting kits together, and finishing up shop samples. I just finished Double the Stitches FREE pattern for LYS day, the Treasured Skein Scarfette, it is super cute! It is blocked and drying, I will have it available in the shop on Thursday, or you can see it tomorrow night. Carrie and I have been planning a fantastic day, so I hope you will all be able to stop by and say hello. A few things to entice you, there will be a scavenger hunt with a prize, FREE PATTERNS WITH PURCHASE, and Berroco is offering a 10 skein bag of Cashmello with the pattern book to one lucky customer at each store ($150.00 value). I also have this year's LYS Day enameled pins available, limited quantity and a restock of my logo pins.
Officially, the next KAL starts this Saturday, April 18th, 9-11:00. Last week, during Stitch and Bitch, Karen and Sandy were swatching the Juniper Moon Farm Cumulus, a beautiful cotton. I have since seen Paula and now Sandy with the sweater on the needles, this yarn is amazing!! Let's face it, Sugar and Cream cotton yarn has given cotton a terrible reputation, I hear it often, there's a reluctance to work with cotton. Admittedly, I don't order much "Spring/Summer" yarns for the obvious reason of where we live, but what I do get in, is not for making dishcloths. Leave your preconceived notions at Joann's, the blends and quality of the fibers I'm sourcing are perfect for a lighter weight sweater, I PROMISE!! There's been a big surge in Cotton & Wool blends, which in my opinion, offers the best of both fibers, what an amazing combination. If you're ready to try something new, stop on by, I have lots of samples knit up.
I have been working on a couple of new sweaters, no surprise there. I was enticed by the lovely Lucinda at Mont Tricot to knit up Pope Vergara's Something on Your Raglan Tee, it is stunning. I plan on wearing it to Addie's graduation. I am having the best time knitting with beads, this is the third Pope pattern I've knit, she's an amazing designer. There's something refreshing about a simple design with incredible embellishments, I can't wait for you to see it. I've also been poking along with my Forest Light sweater by Jenn Steingass, it's going to be perfect for Fall, it's ORANGE MOHAIR!! Despite all of the lovely sweaters I currently have going, that Cumulus cotton is giving me a terrible case of FOMO. I have a few ideas, I made need to head to Ravelry after this...
I will continue to remind you, the shop will be closed the weekend of May 15th (Friday and Saturday) for Addie's graduation. Can you believe she's graduating? We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
