Well Hello, September...

Good Morning Everyone!

I cannot believe it's September, ALREADY!! It's easy to lose track of the calendar when you no longer have a kid going back to school. Instead, I'm getting ready to fledge my little bird out into the world and settled in her first apartment. Exciting times for sure, the best part, I'm able to start purging my house!! She's quickly realizing the cost involved with furnishing a home, it's MOM TO THE RESCUE!! We all know how easy it is to accumulate "things" over the years (what yarn stash?), mixing bowls, pie plates, utensils, etc...everyone wins, I get to pass some of my treasured pieces to her and she's able to bring memories of "home" with her. What's scary, it doesn't look like anything is missing...

With Summer beginning to wind down, I've been reminding you about the lovely new projects you should be thinking about. I've always loved vests, they are perfect for those in between days when you just need a little extra warmth. And who can't appreciate that? The best part, of course, NO SLEEVE ISLAND!!! I recently went to see Lucinda at Mont Tricot, she lent me, Jennifer Berg's aka Native Knitter, Desert Dweller Vest which uses Julie Asselin's Nurtured https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/desert-dweller-vest I have a lovely selection of Nurtured offering several different color combinations. My Antipodes sweater is coming along quite nicely. As you know, I've knit A LOT of sweaters, I'm so pleasantly surprised by how much I love this one. Admittedly, I wasn't that impressed when it first came out. I fell victim to the color selection and couldn't get past it, seemed drab and uninteresting. As more of you began showing interest, I began to think, perhaps I hadn't given it enough consideration. It honestly checked all the boxes when we select a KAL project like, new techniques, interesting construction, etc...And let's face it, pictures don't always do it justice, sometimes you really need to look beyond what's in front of you. I am so glad we decided to knit this design, I learned a new way to do a provisional cast on using Purl Strings!! I also loved the challenge of the chart, now that it's complete, lol...I did have a few moments of confusion that lead to a bit of tinking. I am ready to begin work on my sleeves, stay tuned, I'll be posting my progress!

The sky has been putting on quite the show the past few days. I was able to witness most of the lunar eclipse on Thursday evening, it was spectacular. Last night, Venus was a beacon of light hanging low on the western horizon. This morning, the clouds morphed from light pink to deep fuschia before fading back to gray. I'm glad I was up and out to see the sun's beautiful lightshow, it's looking pretty gray the rest of the day, I hope it rains....
