Good Morning Everyone!
I'm not sure what happened to this past week, it's a blur, or maybe it's that damn time change, that elusive one hour....Honestly I was screwed up before 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning, no secret there. Maybe it was the combination of the full moon, the lunar eclipse, 2 days of sunshine IN A ROW, I couldn't be sure, but whatever it was, I'm still recovering. It all started on Wednesday night after a very fun Stitch and Bitch. I've been working on my Brookline sweater and was so excited to have the front almost finished. I'm reading ahead to see what comes next, I read the instructions for shaping the front neckline, instant confusion (I'm inches away from finishing the second sleeve). This garment is knit in two pieces from cuff to cuff, in case you're wondering why panic set in. How am I supposed to shape the neckline at this point? I go back to the instructions, @#$%&*!!! HOW DID I MISS THIS? I interpreted, work front same as back, what it actually said was, "Work same as Back to first neck marker." Those four little extra words just rocked my world, I couldn't even look at my sweater at this point. I promptly emailed Asa to ask how critical that neck shaping was to the design, she was encouraging. We're going for a smart Boat neckline and it's going to work out just beautifully. The irony, you'll love this, I refrained from saying, "it has no mistakes" because it doesn't, I was so meticulous in tracking the increases and decreases, it's perfect. The gauge is spot on, the stitch count, dimensions, everything! Imagine my horror to discover after all that attention to detail, I still screwed it up. Stay tuned...
I recover from the horror of my unshaped neckline. I've decided I'm actually looking forward to this time change, hoping that my dumb dog will allow me to sleep past 4:30. You know, 5:30 becomes the new 4:30, 5:30 I can handle. Imagine my delight when I wake up with that fuzzy little face nudging mine and it's 5:30, SUCCESS!!! Oh joy, it actually worked, no more 4:30 wake up calls. In my early morning excitement and obvious brain fog, I don't realize that IT'S SATURDAY AND I HAVE TO WORK!! To add insult to injury, it's dark again which was fine at 5:00, not so much at 6:00. I know it's temporary, and I agree, it's sure nice to have it light in the afternoon, but I have the worst time adjusting to the time change and the weather. Spring is challenging here, expectations are high and the results are soooo slooooow. Winter has a death grip and does not like to relinquish it's hold. Seriously, we've got a few warm, sunny days in the forecast before Mother Nature takes a nosedive this weekend, UGH, like a 25 degree difference. The weather is mercurial, the moon has to throw in its two cents, and this stupid time change forces me to do just one thing, CAST ON A NEW PROJECT!!!
I haven't actually cast it on yet, but it's waiting patiently. I even read the directions all the way through, lol...the Clara has an interesting construction and start, I'm hooked! We decided that the next KAL was going to be a sweater from Laine Magazine's latest issue. I included a few links last week so you could see some of the projects that have been selected. If you'd like to stop by and take a look at the patterns, you won't be disappointed, more likely, overwhelmed trying to select one. I also released the hat patterns for March's Hat of the Month Club. So, if you're looking for a fun, small project to work in between those larger ones, this is for you. I'd forgotten how extremely gratifying it is to complete a small project, I mostly knit sweaters, as you know. The bonus(es) you will have a fantastic arsenal of new hats to either keep for yourself OR BETTER YET, give as a gift!
It sure looks to be a beautiful sunny, day. I may need to grab a chair, a piece of sunshine and sit on my porch to knit, maybe absorb some extra Vitamin D. We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
PS the beautiful watercolor featured in the header is by VT artist Katharine Montstream, I'm such a huge fan....
