Good Morning Everyone!
We are 50 days away from Christmas, not going to sugarcoat it. Believe it or not, I have been talking about this since July, and if you're at all like me, you're in shock. How could it possibly just sneak up like this? MY GOD OCTOBER IS OVER!!! We have successfully made it through Halloween and Daylight Savings Time, and worst of all, with Thanksgiving being so late, it's enough to throw anyone into a complete state of panic, good thing you have me! There is still time to make something special for that knit-worthy person, I have put together lots of new kits for both knitters and crocheters. I have been hosting special Christmas KALs during Stitch and Bitch to help you accomplish your holiday knitting. The next one is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12th 6-7:30. We will be learning how to knit Jogless Stripes while creating the most adorable holiday ornament, CHRISTMAS CARAMEL CANDIES! I took it one step further, wait until you see the display I created, I really outdo myself sometimes, lol...
If that isn't enough to wet your whistle, how about joining me & the fantastic JULIE ASSELIN tomorrow evening for a Pop-Up Book Fair and of course KNITTING!!! The fun starts at 6:00, I will have many of the latest publications from Laine along with others to keep the inspiration flowing. It may also be of some interest to you, to see what is inside the 2 boxes I received from Juniper Moon Farms, there's something new you have never seen. I'll give you a hint, Cashmere for Christmas, I think that has a rather nice ring to it. You wanted soft and cozy, I can deliver!
I gave myself permission to cast on the Halibut by Caitlin Hunter, this decision has caused the utmost confusion to my husband. He simply cannot understand why I would choose to start something new when I'm sooooo close to finishing my Shifty 2.0. He's right (my god don't tell him) I could be completely off sleeve island and waiting for her to dry. Clearly he's not a knitter and doesn't possess the bandwidth to begin to understand my process. What's more interesting to me, after 30+ years he's paying attention to my knitting madness and questioning me. It's nothing we fight about, clearly, he simply doesn't understand that starting something new gives me the drive to finish the other sweater. I need the change of scenery to reignite my interest, I think the majority of us are like minded. It's just mental gymnastics and the most creative form of prioritizing I have subconsciously concocted. It's really as simple as this, I start the new sweater, it literally puts into perspective just how far I've come on the other one. Inevitably, the "new" project acts as the catalyst to finish the other one FIRST. I am not suggesting there isn't some lonely sweater abandoned on sleeve island sitting at the bottom of some project bag, GUILTY (along with the needles I'll never find again). No method is foolproof, sometimes I need a quick fix to reset, and if that means casting on and doing 35 rows of charted colorwork, then so be it. It's how I clear my head to refocus, seriously, it's much quicker to knit up those 64 stitches worth of sleeves than the 352 stitches in the yoke. I'm reminded how many more rows I can do on the sleeve and how quickly it progresses. I love girl math.... I'm dying for you to see my Halibut, I added mohair, I have fuzzy fish.
Did you see my post? My dining room has been taken over by Advent Calendars! I spent the better part of Sunday organizing and packaging all of the wonderful surprises I have selected this year, SO CUTE!! I have a few small details to wrap up before they will be ready, it's a limited quantity, once they are gone, they are gone. Make sure you are on the list, they are $150.00 and have (24) days of fiber themed fun.
Stitch and Bitch is going to be a lot of fun tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30, I hope you can join in. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
