Good Morning Everyone!
Yup, still knitting that second sleeve on Addie's Sipila, really...I'd love to tell you that I've been screwing up the pattern and the stitch count is wrong, but everything is fine. I've had no issues, it is in fact what we call, slow fashion. Instead of being irritated that it's taking me a little longer to finish it than I'd like, I'm enjoying watching the design evolve around the sleeve. I think about how much she is going to love wearing this sweater and each time she puts it on, she'll be reminded of me. I haven't shared with her that she should text me when she's planning on wearing it so I can wear mine the same day lol...In just over a week, she'll be moving into her dorm at UVM, starting the next chapter of her life. I'm so excited for all of the opportunities that will be presented to her, she has so much to look forward to. I've suggested that she join the Knitting/Crocheting club at UVM and let the members know I'd be very willing to do deliveries on Sundays, and maybe I'd even bring homemade cookies. She hasn't said,"NO!" to the idea, thankfully, she does have an appreciation for nice yarn and knows that Mom is the source. I just hope that she doesn't figure out my ulterior motive, I'd get to see her.
We've been discussing the next KAL, steeked Icelandic sweaters, I'm super excited that I have finally selected a pattern. Barb brought several of her books last Wednesday and had picked out a beautiful sweater from her Lopi Light book. I'm totally copying Barb, I decided to knit the same sweater, guessing that the colors will be completely different. Paula stopped by a few days later to talk to me about her pattern, she'd discovered that hers is actually knit double stranded with the Lopi Plutulopi. I'd suggested wanting to use Brown Sheep Lamb's Pride Worsted or Bulky, but it occurred to me that if you would prefer using Lopi, I can have it drop shipped directly to you, I haven't checked the stock on all of the Lopi, but Plutulopi had very good availability. We'll be starting the next KAL September 24th. I'd like to get the orders placed by mid September so we can get our projects cast on. The Lopi pattern books I own do not have steeking options, I was very surprised when I started looking at them. Honestly though, I've always knit the pullovers, cutting up the front of my sweater has never interested me until now. The thrill of learning a new technique is pushing me way outside my comfort zone and isn't that what life is all about?
For those of you wondering who is responsible for the artwork, it's Katherine Montstream, I've been a big fan of hers for years. We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. I will have Addie's sweater finished if you want to see it. My plan is to sit on the porch today and do nothing but knit. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
