Take Two, UGH....

Good Morning Everyone!

We are 5 days out, I'd be lying if I said I was ready, I'm not. I have a package that needs to be sent to Nashville, one to New Jersey, gifts to wrap, stockings to stuff, but luckily no knitting to finish as a gift (that is by design). I think I have everything I need, it's likely my Scotch tape is ready to run out, but other than that, my mental checklist has me sitting pretty. I'm sure I have myself well organized, anyone buying this? The holidays can easily become chaotic, often times causing us to lose sight of what is truly important. I was reminded of this on Friday when I asked Devin if he was still taking orders for Tourtiere. He told me he was "meat pied out" and done with them, to which I replied no problem, I just wanted a small one since no one else in my family liked them. A few minutes later he sent me a picture and said, "Something like this?" It was the cutest little pie, of course I said, "YES!!" I went on to tell him that my stupid boss never gives me breaks and I couldn't pick it up until tomorrow before work. He offered to bring it to me and was at my doorstep shortly thereafter. I was so touched by his kindness, he went above and beyond without understanding how emotional his gesture made me. It was a family tradition, my mother and I made Pork Pie for Christmas Eve. We'd have it after the church service and before going back for midnight silent communion, I always looked forward to it and wondered why we didn't have it more often. I haven't made a Pork Pie since my mother died, it just isn't the same. So when Devin took the time to bake me my own little Tourtiere, I felt like a piece of my mother was with me, it felt like Christmas, thank-you Devin...Not that he needs the plug, BUT, be sure to visit Red House Sweets as often as your waistline will allow, everything there is baked with love...

I'm loving my new December Frost Hat, I'm going to knit a pair of mittens with the leftover yarn after I finish my Odila pullover. I haven't been working on my Emsworth as much as I'd like, I've been lulled into the rhythm of mindless knitting in the round on bulky yarn. AND it doesn't hurt that the yarn is so soft and cozy, I just want to have it finished so I can wear it!! I've also been watching a lot of hockey and football. Did you see the end of the Patriots game??? What the hell was that??? It's definitely a play that will likely be talked about longer than the snapping Joe Theismann's leg. Even if you're not a football enthusiast, the replay will have you wondering what was that guy thinking, take it to overtime. Guessing he got his walking papers lol...I'm not a Patriots fan, I'm a Habs fan, but I'm one of those fickle fans that follows the cute Quarterback, Tampa Bay and Kansas City have my attention. It's terrible when they play each other, I simply have to cheer on the GOAT while knowing that Mahomes is already on Brady's heels of achieving the same level of success. Enough about football, but it does provide me with a few hours of precious knitting time.

We had a nice group on Saturday for KAL, I sewed Paula's sweater and took pictures of her cutting her Steek, she did a great job! I've been meaning to post the pictures which I will do after I finish writing, I've been meaning to....The snow did keep a few of my KAL gals away, but not Leslie, she drove all the way from South Burlington admittedly white knuckled. We haven't made a decision about the next KAL project, I'm not too worried, if you see something amazing, let me know. I do like the Drawing sweater, there's lots of different color combinations you could do. I look for projects that have an interesting design element. If you're on Instagram, Facebook or Ravelry, take a look at Mary W Martin knits, SUPER AMAZING TECHNIQUE!!! This might be something interesting and fun to do as a group.

We will be meeting tomorrow, Wednesday evening, from 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day, I'll see you soon!

I love your tourtiere story. It's wonderful when someone's kindness ends up touching your heart that way. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family!
