Good Morning Everyone!
THANK-YOU for such a fantastic week, I had a wonderful time. Stitch and Bitch was an evening of laughs (no shock there), the shop was super busy from open to close, and Saturday's KAL was exciting, we officially started the Wisdom of the Moon Shawl. In case you missed the memo, my birthday was last Thursday, I am truly touched by the outpour of well wishes from near and far. It's not easy getting older, my body has been reminding me of this for the last few years, it's trying to kill me LOL...thankfully I'm a tough bird, extremely stubborn and giving up has never been an option. Last week was a gentle reminder that I have so many lovely people in my life and I'm blessed. Life's journey is definitely a lot more fun when the company is good and the knitting is plentiful, I CAN DO THIS!!
I'm thrilled to announce that I will be receiving another order of adorable project bags, totes, notion tins, progress keepers and stitch markers from Emma Ball. I completely sold out of my first order of project bags and notions tins, THEY ARE SO CUTE!! I still have the Project Notebooks and Interchangeable Needle cases available, the quality is exceptional. Wait until you see this next order, OMG. I love how whimsical the designs are, one of them features Sheep in Wooly Sweaters, stupid cute....They are due to ship out from lovely England tomorrow, I will let you know when they arrive.
I've been knitting away on my Alpine Bloom sweater, it's going to be so pretty. I'm cruising through the chart, 15 more rows to go!! I watched several hockey and football games this past weekend, I was extremely happy with all of the outcomes. My Canadiens at least lost in OT and got the point, my Avalanche crushed the Kings, the Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl against the 49ers (wish Detroit had won). It's always a race against time. How many rows can I get done before half time or the first period? I am easily distracted and depending on what's happening on the field/ice I don't always accomplish a lot. Hockey is easier to listen to, the announcers are much better at calling the game. Football, not so much, the most annoying announcers are the former players, I don't care about their opionions, just call the game. If it gets too bad, I just turn off the volume and grab a mindless knitting project, always have one of those on hand.
I saw on Facebook there are11 weeks until the Total Solar Eclipse darkens our little City, so exciting!! If what they are predicting is true, it's going to be absolutely crazy here, 60,000 people arriving, really? The advice was to have all your groceries & yarn purchased the week before, fill the car with gas and have an emergency plan. You'd think it was the apocolypse and not an event that is going to last less than 5 minutes LOL. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, but I hadn't really thought much about it, I am now. So much so, I dedicated yesterday afternoon to knitting this beautiful shawl, and beautiful it is. The picture doesn't do it justice AT ALL. I loved seeing the progess this past Saturday, Walter's is gorgeous! There are some interesting details on the shawl that really get accentuated with the right colors. I learned how to make a two colored braid, it tangles the crap out of your yarn, worse than a cat, but the result is lovely. I've just started the Moon Phase color work, the chart is ridiculously small, even with glasses. We had a lively discussion about the chart on Saturday, there are some YO's and P tbl signs that are about as easy to detect as finding Waldo. If you're working from a tablet, it may be easier to see, not so much from the printed pattern. If you need clarification, stop by.
I have a couple of shop policies that the boss lady wanted me to remind you of. Any yarn that is special ordered/drop shipped is YOURS, there are no returns/exchanges for unused skeins. Any yarn that has been wound into a ball, is YOURS. For whatever reason, I cannot resell previously wound skeins of yarn, even if it's the same dyelot that is on the shelf. I totally appreciate your understanding and will always do my best to accomodate your needs and requests, promise. We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
