You Heard It Here!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

I have so much to share with you today, where to start? I'm going to attempt chronological order with the hope I don't forget an important event, wish me luck....There are still a few spots available for this weekend's Retreat. I will need to know by tomorrow, May 15th, so Susan can give the final head count to the Caterer. I did a quick peek at the forecast, ugh....I'm not going to give it too much weight, I honestly don't care what it does, but it sure would be nice to sit outside. Bring your rain gear and you won't need it, isn't that how it usually works out? Regardless, it's going to be so much fun, I can't wait for you to see what Carrie and I have put together, the goody bags are AWESOME!!! For those of you not attending, please note, the shop will be closed on Saturday, May 18th.

Many of you have seen my beautiful Mabel Cardigan I'm knitting with Julie Asselin's Fino yarn. She hosts an annual event called Needles In A Haystack, this year it's on Sunday June 2nd. Here is the link so you can obtain the necessary information, there are several of us planning to attend. https://www.julie-asselin.com/events/needles-in-a-haystack-2024/ We can coordinate and carpool/caravan up, please let me know if you'd like to join in the fun. Zoe from Woolerton Estate Yarns will be there, if you missed the Trunk Show I hosted, you can see her selection of yarns. I have received a shipping notice from her, for those of you who special ordered yarn, it should be here May 21st along with 15 colors of The Exotic. World Wide Knit In Public Day is Saturday, June 8th. There is a lot of activity planned downtown that day, don't miss out on the fun. We will be gathering in our usual spot, the benches around the fountain from 9-11:00 (you can come and go as you please). If the weather doesn't want to cooperate, please bring a chair and we can set up in the Gazebo next to the fountain. I think that's enough information for now, stay tuned for what's on deck for July...

I finally made it through the lace work of my latest Love Note sweater, NO LIFE LINES!!! I love the combination of yarns I'm using (silk, mohair & sparkles), it's going to be so pretty. I've been meaning to post pictures of my progress, perhaps I'll do that today since you can really see how sparkly the lace is. I think we could all use a little sparkle on such a dreary day. Stop by to see all the beautiful colors I have recently gotten in, they are stunning! A little goes a long way, I used just one ball of it in my sweater. It would be so pretty in a hat or mittens if you think it's too much in a sweater. I know sparkles aren't for everyone, I personally didn't think I wanted much to do with them either, I was wrong, again lol...I promptly dismissed Andra when she first introduced me to the Paillettes line, she barely had the words out of her mouth and I was saying, NOPE!! Oh well, there are worse things than being wrong about sparkly yarn, I can live with myself. Most important, Andra and I remained friends...

So there's been some discussion about our next KAL, I can't believe it, but Emotional Support Chickens, they are super popular on Ravelry of course This is another thing I thought was kind of stupid until I saw Andra's, it's sooo cute. I also didn't realize it was a teachable moment, mastering GERMAN SHORT ROWS. Even if you already know how to do them, there's no harm in practicing them, kind of like musical scales. The more you do them, the better you get. We could even do a bit of a yarn exchange since you only need about 200 yards for the main color and then bits of contrast, sounds fun to me. I can order the safety eyes and I'm sure we can pull together batting to stuff them. Let me know what you think, it would be a fun summer KAL...before we start MORNING RITUALS. I almost forgot, Zoe has sent me a sample skein of the Boucle to swatch. I will have plenty of it if some of you would like to give it a test knit.

We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I hope to see you soon!

Katy
