Good Morning Everyone!
What an adventure! Addie & I had a wonderful time together in DC. We were able to take in some sights, find the LYS, figure out the Metro and just enjoy each other. She has totally immersed herself into this new environment with much ease and confidence. So much so, I felt completely comfortable leaving her. My excitement for her outweighed my dread of not being able to hug her for several months. That said, she has been sharing all of her "field trips" with me via pictures, texts and of course phone calls. She is taking full advantage of everything this opportunity is presenting, I am so proud of her. Did I mention her apartment? BEAUTIFUL top floor, end unit, extra windows with a balcony, pretty sweet accomodations, much nicer than her dorm room for sure!
I only was able to visit one LYS, but it was awesome, Looped Yarnworks. I was able to find the extra yarn I needed to knit Andrea Mowry's Shifty https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/shifty-2 I decided that I was never going to use the yarn I bought at Fibre Space 2 years ago to knit a Pressed Flowers shawl, but I could definitely use it to make a sweater IF I could find another skein of navy blue yarn. I found it along with the last contrast color I needed, a lovely skein of Spincycle. I can't wait to show you my color combination for this sweater, it's going to be soooo pretty. If that's not enough, my Alpine Bloom sweater is coming along oh so nicely, the coIor work is knit with Spincycle and it shades like nothing I've ever seen before. It does produce a gorgeous effect which is a good thing because it's stupid expensive but worth every penny, my favorite type of yarn lol....
Before I left I was mentioning a new design coming out by Olga Putano, the Distance Scarf DK https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/distance-scarf-dk I think it's adorable! I know many of you hopped on board and knit the Sophie Scarf by Petite Knits, this design is similar but it offers a much prettier stitch. Don't get me wrong, the Sophie Scarf's simple design makes it a perfect grab and go project. If you're looking for a more elegant design, I think you'll love the look of this scarf. It is offered in either fingering or DK, and as you know, it's never too early to start knitting Christmas presents. I'm thinking West Yorkshire Spinners BFL with or without Aerial would be just delightful. Stop by to pick our your next project!!
It's that time of year where I have to do my inventory, UGH!!! It would be really great if I didn't have so much to count. It also just happens to be my birthday this Thursday, so how about a SALE??? Let's celebrate!! I'll be offering 20% off Wednesday night, January 24th at Stitch and Bitch Thursday and January 25th MY BIRTHDAY!! I also have some BRAND NEW INVENTORY, it's so cute!! I have project bags, project notebooks, notions tins and interchangeable needle cases, wait until you see the design. I'll give you a hint, sheep and alpaca...it's a British company called Emma Bell, I am thrilled with the quality and think you will really love it. The project notebooks are really cute and quite handy. You'll just have to see them for yourself.
Our next KAL is starting this Saturday, January 27th 9-11:00 it's https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/wisdom-of-the-moon-shawl we are all getting on board with the upcoming Solar Eclipse that will be directly over St. Albans on April 8th. I've already started mine, it's a fun project with an interesting stitch detail.
