Chickens, Yarn & Other News...

Good Morning Everyone!

In case you haven't heard the latest news, we (all 45 of us) managed to create 83 chickens for the Broodhaha. They have all been distributed throughout the downtown businesses, I am so excited to walk around and see them. The bidding for the online auction starts September 2nd until the 16th, there are maps available showing where the chickens are hanging out. The Hen House party is scheduled for Friday, September 27th at either Taylor Park or City Hall. I will continue to update you with the details as they become available. I encourage you to take a little trip downtown to visit the shops and our beautiful chickens. Many thanks again for your support!!!!

We had KAL on Saturday, it was a lovely morning in the backyard. Susan was swatching her Boucle for the Morning Rituals sweater and managed to get gauge on the first attempt!! Lesley stopped by with her swatch, she had the brilliant idea to knit the pocket lining of the sweater as her swatch. This project is going to be so much fun! I've never knit with Boucle before, I don't think many of us have. There were several skeptics, initially, who were concerned with the texture of the yarn being too difficult to knit with. I believe minds changed when they saw how squishy and lofty this particular type of yarn knits up. It is very unique and in my opinion, the perfect candidate for a KAL. The purpose of a KAL is to try something new, either a technique, construction or even a yarn. I think the boxes have been checked with this sweater, there is a lot going on, we're going to learn a lot as a group. I placed my order with Julie yesterday, if you would like to participate, please let me know by Thursday, August 29th. Julie will be sending me the prices for the Boucle, Fino, Leizu DK and Nurtured. She will also be scheduling a Trunk Show this Fall, stay tuned.

Speaking of new yarn, my order from MaddyTosh is getting put together and ready to ship!! I have 22 GORGEOUS colors in their Madelinetosh Tosh DK heading our way, I cannot wait for you to see this. I had so much fun with Andra picking out the colors, admittedly, selections were made based not only on color but the names. "Dried But Not Forgotten" "Future Ex-Husband" "Shroom With A View" the names are as fabulous as the colors they represent. So start going through your patterns to pick out that perfect project, or ask Carrie lol. Speaking of Andra, mark you calendars, she's coming up for her annual TRY ON TRUNK SHOW Wednesday, September 25th 6-7:30ish. We may start a little earlier, we'll definitely run late lol....She will have some beautiful new garments for you to swoon over and try on.

The shop is filling up nicely with Fall inventory. I finished my Windrock sweater, it's on display in the shop until the weather cooperates and I can wear it. I used Berroco's Millstone Tweed, it is a wool blend with lovely flecks of color that create depth to the fabric. I restocked Vento, it is a wonderfully soft yarn that is made of brushed alpaca and merino, it is to die for. I made the Leticia vest last year, it is the perfect layering piece and helps transition to those cooler Fall days before sweater weather takes hold of us. The pattern support is amazing, if you haven't experienced the joy of Vento, stop by and see for yourself. There are new colors of Wizard in the shop, this yarn doesn't disappoint. It is a chainette construction that is loaded with superwash merino and then dyed in long color repeats. It is extremely lofty, lightweight and WARM and once again, Berroco delivers some amazing pattern support. I knit up the Rutabaga vest in a few days, she's hanging out in the shop providing lots of inspiration. I still want to knit the Malou sweater, I have one of the new colors, Green Rhyolite, that I'd love to get onto my needles. Just to add insult to injury, start thinking about Advent Calendar Boxes!! Carrie and I have already planned everything that is going into them, we're working on the details and costs. Let me know if you want to sign up!!

We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday, 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!

Katy
