No Knit Zone, NOT!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

I had a bit of a panic attack yesterday while I was out kayaking with Addie. For a brief moment, I realized that perhaps I'd finally encountered a place where I can't knit, in a kayak!! The fact that it requires a significant amount of grace to even get into the vessel without taking on water was a solid first clue. In a kayak you are definitely "one with the water" there are virtually zero degrees of separation between staying afloat and sinking. Was I afraid? Nope, the water is so shallow off of Kill Kare, through the gut over to Burton Island, I was more concerned about my rudder dragging along the bottom of the lake. For the number of times I had gone through that gut as a kid, I had no idea how little room for error there was hiding on either side or those buoys. What I will say is perspective is everything, those little waves seemed a bit more menacing sitting as low as I was. I'm sure you're wondering why on earth I would even consider bringing my knitting under such circumstances, I should be paying attention to my surroundings, which is true. But most of you understand that we go nowhere without our knitting, even if we end up leaving it in the car, it's "there", just in case. I did of course think of a viable solution, I'm getting a new project bag, it's a waterproof, floating dry bag! I will be able to have my knitting with me should I need to take a break from paddling, panic attack solved.

I've been keeping myself quite busy in preparation for the upcoming season! I received another order of Purl Strings yesterday, this time I have the CHUNKY Purl Strings which will accomodate the larger needle sizes. I'd had some requests for them, they are here!! I also ordered 27 bags of Malabrigo yarn, Rasta is finally back in stock! I've been wanting to stock Mecha which is a luscious bulky weight with a fantastic hand, I'm really excited to have this. I also replenished my Sock yarn and added a few new colors. As usual I have no idea where this is all going, but Carrie will work her magic I'm sure. I will also be receiving more yarn from Berroco by the end of the month, Wizard, Ultra Alpaca Chunky Naturals and a few more surprises for you.

I'm STILL knitting Addie's Sipila, Andra has finished her Efa in the time it's taken me to knit sleeves lol...I know it isn't a race, but seriously? An entire cabled sweater quicker than mindless knitting with memorizable colorwork, OK....She did post a picture on Facebook, it's definitely a dangling carrot for me, I will be casting on that sweater AND have it finished before we start our next KAL, no pressure on me....Andra also finished a gorgeous blanket using Wizard called Bente, check it out if you haven't seen it. Berroco is simply hitting it out of the park with their afghan designs this season! The Sea Star is still my favorite, but if you're looking for a more relaxing project, consider the Bente.

We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun! Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!

Katy
