Good Morning Everyone!
I apologize for the technical glitch last week. In an attempt to be organized, I still managed to screw things up. I truly am a creature of habit, there are certain things that simply must be done in order, my newsletter is one of them. Being organized just isn't how I roll, I've always flown by the seat of my pants. I sat down last Monday to create my newsletter so that I'd be ready to roll bright and early for Tuesday's road trip to Harrisville, NH. It took about 2 minutes after I'd sent it for Carrie to text me there was an issue, @$%!# GREAT!!! In the future, if you receive an outdated newsletter, simply go to my website whatayarnvt.com click on the three bars in the upper right hand corner and select Newsletter. That said, I will do my best not to duplicate the titles of my newsletters, that's when the computer gets confused.
Do I really think that it's Sweater Weather already? Officially, NO! But considering it was a good 40 degrees warmer last week at this time makes me very happy that it is no longer last week. I do like being tempted by these cooler temperatures, it is a gentle reminder Fall is around the corner, YAY!!! I LOVE FALL!!! I am cruising along on my Florence sweater, I've already gone a bit rogue interpreting the pattern. I have never divided the front and back before finishing the color work in the yoke, NEVER. Guess what? This sweater is no exception, lol...It should be fine, it just didn't register with me this is what was supposed to happen. YES, I READ THE DIRECTIONS and forged on straight ahead despite the bridge being out. I made it across, added a few stitches (3) and so far so good. Let me know if you need some clarification, it's clear as mud to me now...
Wait until you see my Shifty 2.0 by Andrea Mowry, OMG I LOVE IT!! I told you last week I was planning to resuscitate this WIP. This sweater has been a work in progress for a few years. I've changed the colors a couple of times, not really liking what I had going, no wonder I didn't want to work on it. Last week, Kathleen and I visited Harrisville Designs, it's been on her bucket list. I innocently picked up a single skein of the most beautiful gold yarn to feed my stash. I had no idea that this $5 purchase was the answer to my prayers. Can I say it was exactly the pop of color my sweater needed to pull everything together? It was so perfect, I had absolutely no issue frogging an entire section so I could introduce this gorgeous new color. IT IS BEAUTIFUL!! I am still absolutely baffled by this. There would have been no way in hell I'd found the perfect color had I been looking for it. Serendipity to the rescue...
Because life is more fun when there are several skeins in the air, why not throw in a baby sweater? I received a box from Knitting Fever last week, Juniper Moon Farms Harris. In the box was a swatch sample of all the colors knit up, PERFECT! This yarn is not going to sell itself from the skein, it's recycled wool and silk and doesn't feel great. I decided to knit a baby sweater, it took me a little more than a day to crank it out and IS IT ADORABLE!! We seem to be having an influx of little humans entering our lives, thankfully not me personally...If you're looking for a cute pattern, I found the Peppermint Pure Cardi on Ravelry to knit up this sweater. I'll post pictures, it is really so cute.
I received a big box of yarn from Julie Asselin on Friday!! She sent new colors of Fino and Leizu Fingering, I already grabbed colors for my Renaissance sweater. I will also be receiving 10 colors of Moustache fingering or as Karen says, "Fingerling" by Fonty yarns this week. I've rearranged the shop and made room for the new inventory that is coming. I'm meeting with a new Rep on Thursday, I've never heard of her or any of the lines she carries. You know me, always on the lookout for the next best thing for all of you and of course, ME!!
Saturday provided the perfect day for my Ice Cream social, well, the shade from the Butternut Tree certainly helped. There wasn't much knitting going on, but plenty of ice cream eating and socializing, which was exactly the point. If you missed out, I still have some kits for the Pint Coozies available, they are really very cute.
We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Please remember to park on the right side of Bank Street facing downhill to avoid getting a $25 parking ticket. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
Katy
