Ahhh, Perspective...

Good Morning Everyone!

I feel the need to start this off with a huge moment of silence for Paula's Fleurine sweater, please bow your heads and take a few deep, cleansing breaths. Yesterday I received a text from Paula which about brought me to my knees. She's been knitting a Fleurine, it's STUNNING! She was working on it Wednesday evening at Stitch and Bitch, the Intarsia color work complete with just a few rows to do before binding off. She was so excited at the thought of seaming it and doing the ribbing around the arm holes and neck, a huge accomplishment for sure. As you all know, I found it to be the most tedious, pain in the ass project I'd done in awhile BUT worth every swear word that went into it. I LOVE WEARING THAT SWEATER!!! Enough about me...Apparently when she went to change her needle size back to the smaller ones to do her ribbing, she discovered that she NEVER SWITCHED TO THE LARGER ONES to knit the body, OMG!!!!! Seriously, my heart sank and I just gasped. @#$%&*!!!!!!!! Of course I've done that before, but not to this extent, especially not an Intarsia project. I'm not telling this story to embarrass her but to applaud her reaction to this very unfortunate situtation. Paula is one of my favorite people, her approach to life is insightful and thoughtful. She's going to block the pieces to see how it looks and is ready to reknit the front, she always wears her big girl panties lol. In the meantime, she's going to cast on her Zeen Top with that luscsious Silky Merino by Malabrigo. So send Paula some knitting love...

Switching gears, I had an awesome start to the Great Northern Yarn Haul!! Thank-you to those that were able to come and to Barb who brought me a yummy bag of her famous Chex Mix, it was my lunch. Holy cow I was so busy on Friday and Saturday, the shop was full of excitement and positive energy from folks all over New England. I look forward to the yarn haul simply to see how far away people are from. Charlene came all the way from Connecticut to see me, it was wonderful! I chatted with a couple of ladies from Lake Sunapee, NH that were an absolute delight and discovered that one of my customers, Penny, is a vendor at the Farmer's Market in Montgomery, she sells maple products among other things. Penny had seen my post on Instagram announcing the GNYH so drove up to see me. I thanked her for coming and she indicated it was the perfect stopping point on her way to Montgomery. I asked her what she made and she started rattling off a list that was simply to die for AND she had her products in her car. I purchased a bag of her maple covered, spicy mixed nuts OMG I should have bought a dozen bags. I sent her an email asking her if she would be willing to ship them to me. Penny, if you're reading this, I'm dead serious...

As if my Saturday couldn't get any better, I ended up closing at 3:00 (I was able to work through my guilt) to go sailing with friends. I was in my absolute glory! Like ready to sell my house, buy a boat and sail away kind of glory. I spent every weekend of every summer on our sailboat growing up, I love being on the water, Lake Champlain is such a treasure. The best part of Saturday was, I wore my Valeria sweater later that evening and received loads of compliments!! I love how perfectly that sweater fits me and it looks amazing with my Fleurine, double bonus!! Keeping my fingers crossed that my Leticia vest will also turn out just as intended. I'm struggling a little bit with the decreases on the front and incorporating the YO CDD thingamajig. The challenge is ensuring that the fronts mirror each other and it's a bit tricky with those YO's along the front edges. I've had to rip out the right side a few times to make sure it looks like the left. I've been counting the number of YO's going up the front and fudging the decreases a bit. I think I've got it looking pretty good, I'm trying not to stick it under the microscope, stay tuned. I've got Efa waiting in the wings along with Addie's Sipila, such a juggling act...

We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!

Katy
