Good Morning Everyone!
May as well just cut to the chase, I finished the color work yoke of my Florence sweater!! I defied all sense of sanity and reason by knitting during this little spike in temperature we've been experiencing. Anyone else notice? I will say, my front porch has been an absolute oasis. It provides the perfect spot to "knit" aka work, I truly believe I've brought new meaning to "working from home." That said, I have fallen victim to an overwhelming feeling of, " I must work" 24/7 my level of dedication is on the verge of compulsion. Are you buying it??? I was struggling last week trying to decide which project to start next, you'll be proud, I'm going to pick up a WIP, Shifty 2.0. I'm not sure if I should continue knitting or frog it. I'm not overly in love with what's currently on the needles. I can't decide if it's the design or my colors that aren't making my synapsis fire with excitement. Stay tuned, try not to hang on the edge of your seat...
Last week I received a brand new DK weight tweed yarn called Harris by Juniper Moon Farm. The yarn is a unique recycled blend of silk bourette and wool which produces heathered tones,a soft sheen and a slubby texture. I was excited to see, included in the order, was a sample of all the colors knit up, THANK-YOU FOR THAT!! I still want to knit up a shop sample, but it alleviates the pressure a bit to have a swatch available to touch. Speaking of shop samples, have you seen my two latest??? The Flower Child Tee by Wool and Pine turned out perfectly, despite the imperfect half double crochet bobbles. It fits me and I absolutely LOVE IT!! Next, the Stromboli by Caitlin Hunter knit by my friend Emily in Marilyn by Juniper Moon Farm. Emily did an AMAZING job, it looks store bought. As a matter of fact, it looks so good that Caitlin Hunter actually shared it to her story!! I just about fell over with excitement, Emily saw it too, we're famous!! I can't even begin to tell you how much I love this sweater, it is stunning! This design gives you some bang for your buck, it looks more complicated than it is (Emily said so). I've always found her patterns extremely well written, so as Sandy says, "Just follow the directions."
I've been on a quest to introduce a new Fingering weight yarn for awhile. Lucky for you, I found a few. I have a lovely French yarn by Fonty called Moustache arriving this week. You are going to love it!! It is a blend of fine Merino, Super Kid Mohair and Silk. This yarn has an ethereal quality, gorgeous halo, and stunning finish that makes it a joy to work with. Moustache can be worked alone, or held alongside another yarn to add texture and depth to finished projects. I also ordered Chaski, by Amano yarns. This blend uses a soft pima cotton to give it a springy structure, mixed with superwash merino wool and linen. You can actually machine wash it! I also heard from Julie Asselin, she is going to be sending me two more boxes of Fino! This is super exciting news, the Fino has been very popular, we definitely need MORE!! Who doesn't appreciate a touch of Cashmere???
Carrie and I (all Carrie) decided it would be fun to host an ICE CREAM SOCIAL! We've been discussing and planning and kind of forgot to mention it (ALL ME). It's this Saturday, August 16th JUST STOP BY. So what exactly does this mean? It's $15 and includes the materials to create an ice cream themed project. I will be posting more details along with a picture of the project and all of the goodies that you will receive. Did I mention I will be serving ice cream??? It's hard to believe that summer is coming to an end, it's the middle of August already, what happened??? Spots are limited, so let me know if you are interested in stopping by for a special treat.
By the time you're reading this, I will be on my way to Harrisville, NH with Kathleen for a little field trip!! We are visiting Harrisville Designs and possibly The Wooly Thistle, WATCH OUT NEW HAMPSHIRE!! We won't be fooled by the GPS screaming at us to exit in Randolph sending us up and over Dugout Road, epic failure that still yields tons of laughter. We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. REMEMBER TO PARK YOUR CARS FACING DOWNHILL ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF BANK STREET TO AVOID GETTING A $25 PARKING TICKET. Make it a great day, stay cool my friends, and I'll see you soon!
Katy
