Good Morning Everyone!
So I've been sitting here the better part of an hour writing absolutely nothing, seriously. I've gone on and on about the crappy weather and if we've actually had 22 crappy weather weekends in a row, have we? Is this what I've been reduced to? OMG the struggle is so real today, I can't remember ever experiencing such a difficult time getting started...So this won't go down as my most interesting newsletter, that's ok, I guess I have a few announcements I can make.
We will be meeting this Saturday, May 24th 9-11:00, for KAL, most of us have finished the Elise Pullover. We have been discussing our next project, the Renaissance Sweater is a strong possibility. I have the color card for Juniper Moon Farm Moonshine Fine if you would like to take a look. We haven't done a colorwork sweater since our "pick your favorite Jen Steingass" KAL. I really love Elenor Mortenson's designs, I would like to knit one of her sweaters. I've been looking for a new fingering weight yarn to bring into the shop. I like the fiber content of the Moonshine Fine, alpaca, merino and silk are such a lovely combination. Speaking of which, if you haven't already seen my new display of worsted Moonshine, stop on by, it is GORGEOUS!! Carrie and I did a complete reorganization and rearrangement of the shop, it looks AMAZING!!!
Once again, Julie Asselin will be hosting Needles in a Haystack at Fromagerie La Station de Compton Sunday, June 1st 11-4:00. We have an unofficial caravan going up, let me know if you want to join in the fun. The address is Fromagerie La Station de Compton 440 Hatley Road (route 208) Compton QC. This is such a fun event, the setting is beautiful and aside from there being copious amounts of yarn and fiber related items, there's CHEESE!!
Worldwide Knit/Crochet in Public Day is Saturday, June 14th. Mark your calendar, we will be gathering in Taylor Park at 9:00 by the fountain. Bring your chair or you can sit on the benches (they are usually wet and cold lol). We can likely meet in the gazebo if the weather doesn't want to cooperate. At any rate, I plan to stay down there until about 11:00, then I'll go up the hill to open up the shop.
I have been working on my Misurina sweater, it is almost finished! I'm on sleeve one, which will be finished in no time, it's 2" long lol...I love that this sweater color is completely out of my wheelhouse, it doesn't look like it belongs in my collection. It reminds me of confetti cake, the pops of color are vibrantly fluorescent, bordering on unicorn colors, I love it. It screams summer, it's meant for warm sunny days. I can't wait to block it, there's an interesting textured design in the body of the sweater, it's going to look so pretty! With any luck, it will be warm enough to wear later this week, fingers crossed.
I'm going to swatch and cast on my Stromboli sweater this week, I've been excited to knit with the sparkly Marilyn yarn. I decided I needed to add a few more sweaters to my summer collection, so if you're looking for some inspiration, I'm also currently knitting the Anita cardigan. I also picked up yarn to knit Something on your Raglan Tee by Pope Vergara while visiting Lucinda last week. Hopefully summer will arrive, it's scheduled for June 20th, but it can come early if it would like. I wouldn't mind a little bit of sunshine and warmth for once, by warmth I mean 75 degrees, that's it....Stay tuned, I'll be working on lots of lovely new things to inspire you.
We will be meeting tomorrow evening, Wednesday 6-7:30 for Stitch and Bitch, I hope you can join in the fun. Weather permitting, we will be sitting outside so be prepared, you might need your parkas. Make it a great day and I'll see you soon!
