Survival Mode...

Good Morning Everyone!

I don't know about you, but I'm awfully glad I know how to knit, for a couple reasons. I love to procrastinknit more than anything, I have the dust bunnies and beautiful sweaters to prove it. I can create the warmest and coziest accessories to not only keep me toasty, but incredibly stylish. Seriously, where could you possibly buy a hat that looks like the one I'm pictured in? The yarn is gorgeous hand-spun curly locks by Brown Dog Fibers and the Pom Pom was created from a vintage fur coat, knit by yours truly in about 5 minutes on #13's. It barely felt like -21 the day I went out with Bernie for a stroll, although the exposed parts of my face didn't exactly agree. My eyelashes were freezing to the little fuzzy curls that were dangling from my hat, super annoying. The hairs in my nose were frozen solid preventing the snot from escaping until we returned from what felt like the longest 30 minutes of my life. Should I mention how much I love winter? I seriously do, I take every opportunity to get outside, and why wouldn't I when I have such a stunning hat???

When I'm not outside enjoying it, guess what I'm doing? KNITTING!!! I spent the better part of yesterday working on my Agate tank top, not like I'll be wearing it any time soon, but I'm getting excited for my big shipment of Spring/Summer yarn from Berroco next month. I'm really doing you all a favor by knitting up a couple of sweaters so you can see just how lovely the yarns and patterns are. If you can't wait until next month to cast on a new Spring sweater, YOU ARE IN LUCK!! I have ordered 10 more colors of Manos del Uruguay's Milo (Merino/Linen) AND there is a lovely FREE pattern called Arvejilla if you're so inclined to knit it. I've overlooked DK weight yarns for a little too long I'm afraid, it's been gaining popularity and I'm seeing many designers using it. The majority of the yarn I have coming is DK which makes a lot of sense for the warmer weather that will get here by July...they knit up quicker than fingering weight and are better geared for summer. I always have your best interest in mind, variety is the spice of life and you should have beautiful knit tops year round, I have the yarn and patterns for it, so take advantage!

Last week I mentioned offering Stitch and Bitch and KAL via Zoom, so far, I've only had 1 person indicate they'd like to participate virtually. What I conveniently forgot was my WiFi signal sometimes acts up and doesn't like to play nice with the computer. I will certainly give it a try, please let me know if you'd like me to send you the link for the meetings. That said, we will be casting on our next KAL this Saturday, January 22 (Carrie's BIRTHDAY!!!) 9-11:00. I believe that most of you have already selected your yarn and pattern, but it's not too late if you haven't. I did place another order from Malabrigo for more Rios, no idea when it will ship, UGH...Berroco's Ultra Alpaca would be a lovely choice and I can have it drop shipped to you directly. The colors are available on line to view or you can come to the shop and look at the color cards and I'll check stock. If you haven't finished the previous KAL, there's no shame, feel free to join us, the more the merrier.

I have officially run out of paper bags, at least the large ones, PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN BAG. I will use the smaller ones until they are gone, but get into the habit of bringing your own bags. I do sell reusable shopping bags and of course have project bags in 2 sizes. I also have a nice selection of masks that we can never have too many of these days. I do ask that you wear a mask while visiting the shop regardless of vaccination status, I'm boosted FYI, but the numbers continue to concern me.

We will be meeting tomorrow evening for Stitch and Bitch from 6-7:30. I do have a few chairs available, but bring your own just in case. I hope you can join in the fun and I look forward to seeing you soon!

Katy
