The Winds Of Change...

Good Morning Everyone!

If you're going to do anything outside, do it now! There is a wonderful breeze this morning, thankful for that, it's already 72 degrees. Bernie and I had a nice stroll around the neighborhoods admiring everyone's beautiful flowers along the way. He decided he wanted to go smell all the smells and look for bunnies, we saw 4 of them. As much as I love going to Hard'ack, it's nice to take a break from being a feast for the mosquitoes and gnats, thankfully no ticks. Change can be challenging, but often times the best things come from it. Nothing like gaining new perspective...

New perspective, I am in dire need of it. It's embarrassing to say, I still have not finished my Quiltstar Shawl, it's due tomorrow!! There's little doubt in my mind that I'll miss the deadline, but if I tell you what the obstacle is, you might worry about me. And this has nothing to do with Gabrielle or the design (which I love), but it puts me to sleep, IN THE MIDDLE OF THE AFTERNOON!! For the record, I stopped taking naps at the ripe old age of 18 months, much to my mother's dismay (Addie followed right in my footsteps). Needless to say, I literally have to get up and go do something so I don't fall asleep. Yesterday I made chocolate chip cookies and weeded out a section of my garden so I could plant the Irises Sandy dug up for me. I discovered a miniature Hosta that needed to be moved from obscurity so it could thrive. I was extremely productive, but it completely cut into my knitting time. It's quite possible it has something to do with the fact that I wake up at 4:00 a.m., it's finally taking its toll...Or perhaps it's just the universe telling me to get off my ass and do something other than knit. Or maybe it's the heat, which I absolutely despise. Or maybe I should just take a few minutes to close my eyes and rejuvenate, it is awfully nice out on my glider. The lesson, don't ignore the signs...

As I inch closer and closer to finishing up the MKAL, I'm already setting my sights on what's next. I have (3) sweaters that I want to get cast on. The Thistlewood by Jenn Steingass is waiting with the yarn wound up and ready to go. I also want to make Amy Christoffer's Felix Cardigan out of Baa Ram Ewe Coast https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/felix-cardigan, and wouldn't you know, Andrea Mowry decides to launch her Rhinebeck Sweater, Antipodes https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/antipodes-3. Just make it stop!! I'm feeling extra behind the 8 ball with my new "napping" disorder, how the hell am I supposed to get my sweaters knit? Not to mention, Isabell Kraemer's Ooh La La has been on my mind https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ooh-la-la-4 technically 4 sweaters!!! No wonder I'm exhausted, there are too many projects bombarding my brain. To add insult to injury, I'm restocking an oldie but a goodie, Edition 3 from Schoppel-Wolle, I haven't had it in almost 10 years. Additionally, I've ordered a rainbow of beautiful new yarns from Lang which will be yarns you haven't seen before, they are all brand new for the season. Hopefully I will have better luck getting this order in than the one I'm still waiting for from April, yes, April, thank-you Berroco!! Andra is cringing, it's not her fault, to be clear....super frustrating though, it's impossible to sell yarn you've ordered if it isn't on your shelves, this stresses me out.

This year our Great Northern Yarn Haul excursion will take place on Wednesday, July 29th! I am in the process of mapping out our destinations and coordinating the drivers who will be chauffeuring the 10 of us who have currently signed up to go. This is always a lot of fun, we meet at the shop (remember to park facing down the hill) and spend the day touring the lovely shops that help make our fiber community what it is. Please let me know if you are interested in joining in the fun, the more the merrier!! I am almost out of this year's Yarn Haul bag, if you want one, please let me know.

I will be closing the shop at 4:00 on Thursday, July 16th it's our 31st wedding anniversary, we are going to celebrate with a nice dinner out followed by a concert, BIG HEAD TODD AND THE MONSTERS!! It's serendipitous, we saw them when we first met, way back in 1991, at one of our local bars in Breckenridge, CO. I couldn't believe they were coming to VT and playing on our anniversary, I am so excited to see them again.
