Good Morning Everyone!
Let me start by saying a BIG THANK-YOU to everyone who came and showed their appreciation on Local Yarn Shop Day. It was wonderful seeing so many of you, there are lots of new projects destined for the needles, that excites me!!! Oh how I love a new project or breathing life into one that I'm really not enjoying. I rarely abandon a project, but I was reminded recently that there's very little point in finishing a book that has failed to capture your attention. Why continue with a pattern that requires more reading than knitting? Seriously, I could really accomplish so much if I had the talent to physically read a book and knit at the same time (Andra can do it AND watch baseball). I can tackle challenging patterns that have a lot going on, but I guess I'm just not that in love with the Julie Twist, there, I said it....Not to say it isn't destined to be part of my future, but for now, NOPE!
I've been making great progress on my Carden tank top, so much so, I've wound up yarn to start my next project, Caitlin Hunter's Tegna. I've decided to abandon the Julie Twist and make the Zeen Top using that beautiful Malabrigo Silky Merino I bought during last year's Great Northern Yarn Haul. So I was knitting away on my Carden when I noticed just how beautiful the wrong side is, the purling makes the striping softer than the knit side. Guess what? I'll be wearing that top inside out, IT'S SO MUCH PRETTIER!! I've divided the front from the back and am really cruising along on it and getting more and more excited with each row that I finish. I can't believe the difference the wrong side makes, now I really love it! At the rate I'm going, it will be off the needles in a few days, then I need to figure out how to do the crochet edge, ugh....YouTube here I come.
This Saturday, April 24th, we will be officially starting our Summer Sweater KAL! It's not too late to join in, if you haven't already done so, let me know if you will be participating. I will be sending an email with either a Zoom link or an invitation to join me in my backyard from 9-11:00, weather permitting. I realize that many of you have already started, it looks like mine will be finished lol...
I will be working on another one of my summer projects, and several of you will be starting together. I can't wait to see what each of you have decided to create. The Summer Sesame is absolutely stunning! Yvonne brought in her WIP, Marisol, it's stunning!! The yarn is more beautiful knit up than on the skein, AND SOFT!!! Vibeke started her Etta a few weeks ago and ran into a bit of trouble, come to find out there is a mistake in the booklet. I discovered the errata on Berroco's website when you look up the pattern. Row 2 of the short rows isn't correct, if you're making the Etta, please look up the correction. I did get to see some of the progress you've been making using the Zinnia, just another beautiful yarn. We will have show and tell on Saturday!
We will be meeting tomorrow evening from 6-7:30 for our weekly Stitch and Bitch via Zoom. The weather doesn't look like it's going to cooperate for us to meet outside, so until further notice, we'll just Zoom. Make it a great day and I hope to see you soon!
Katy
